10 Biggest Mistakes In Affiliate Marketing And How To Avoid Them

Here's an article I found that might help you affilliate Marketers out there.

Though anyone can achieve success with affiliate programs, not everyone manages to do the same. The reason? Well, there are 10 of them, actually. These are the biggest mistakes that make success in affiliate marketing very elusive. Study them well, and read up on how to avoid them. Hurdling through these mistakes can spell the difference between monumental profits and dismal performance in your affiliate marketing campaigns.

1.Believing that people would just click on their affiliate links. Though an affiliate’s job is merely limited to pre-selling, pre-selling involves more than just displaying the affiliate links. It also entails encouraging people to click on them by enumerating the benefits that can be derived from the affiliate merchant’s products, giving favorable recommendations about the use of the same, and providing an encouraging offer that would entice readers to check out the package.

2.Believing that there’s such a thing as organic traffic. Organic traffic, or traffic that is naturally generated by a website, is a myth. There is no such thing! If you’re hosting your affiliate links in one website, you can’t expect people to find it just like that. You have to make them find it. This can be done through effective SEO techniques and efficient marketing strategies.

3.Believing that employing one marketing strategy is enough. Some people actually think that submitting one article to the article directories would give them the amount of traffic they need. This is a fatal mistake. Limiting yourself to a single, or even a couple, of marketing tactics would be limiting the number of visitors you could generate for your website. Also, you’ll fail to tap into other segments of your targeted market if your tactics aren’t flexible enough to expand.

4.Failing to study your campaign’s performance. Most affiliates merely check on how much they have earned per day, and if such an amount remains at low levels, they fail to make corresponding adjustments because, well, they don’t know which aspects of their campaigns need improving. It is important to study every facet of our marketing strategies. How many visitors are we generating for our website? How many of them are unique? How many are returning? How much time do they spend in our pages? Where are they coming from? To where are they exiting? These are the questions that can be answered by an excellent visitor tracking software program, and these are the questions that could help us improve the performance of our marketing endeavors.

5.Failing to find an affiliate program which actually offers sellable products. Some affiliate programs may offer as much as a 95% commission per sale. But if the products are impossible to sell, you’d never realize the profit the program promises.

6.Failing to find an affiliate program with a proven record of consumer satisfaction. The credibility of an enterprise depends on how people view it. If the affiliate program has established great relationships with the members of its target market, then it has established a brand which is recognizable for its excellent service. You’d have an easier time pre-selling such an affiliate program’s products.

7.Failing to keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry. There will come a time when the marketing knowledge we know would become obsolete, more so in the field of internet marketing where everything transpires at a rapid pace. You have to constantly update yourself with the newest trends, techniques and news in this field to always keep your competitive edge.

8.Failing to invest on knowledge. Knowledge likewise evolves and you have to evolve with it. Buy noteworthy eBooks, special reports and the likes… those which would teach you the latest tactics to help you conquer your field.

9.Resting on your laurels once a semblance of success is achieved. Success is not eternal. You have to sustain it. If you leave your business alone once it shows the promise of success, you’re just setting it up for failure.

10.Believing that affiliate marketing is a “get rich quick” scheme. It is not. You have to invest a certain level of commitment, a lot of time, some financial resources on occasions, and a whole lot of effort if you want to truly realize the many wonderful things that this field does promise.

"New Energy Future" Petition

Here's an email I received recently

Hi Scott,

Are you worried about the effects of global warming, the high price of gas and oil, and the war in the Middle East? Are you tired of waiting for our leaders in Washington D.C. to take action to solve our energy problems?

With control of Congress up for grabs and dozens of hotly contested races all across the country, we have an incredible opportunity to move our candidates beyond vague rhetoric and toward real energy solutions. With your help, we can make energy efficiency a top issue during this election.

Will you help us get 5,000 signatures on our New Energy Future petition? To sign, click on the link below or copy and paste it into your browser:

http://uspirg.org/uspirg.asp?id=1867&id4=ES

Background

We are asking all congressional candidates to commit to supporting policies that help the U.S. achieve four key goals:
* Reduce U.S. dependence on oil by saving one-third of the oil we use today (7 million barrels per day) by 2025;
* Harness clean, renewable, homegrown energy sources for at least one quarter of all energy needs by 2025;
* Save energy with high performance homes, buildings and appliances so that by 2025 we use 10 percent less energy than we do today; and
* Invest in a New Energy Future by tripling research and development funding for the energy-saving and renewable technologies we need to achieve these goals.

According to our recent analysis, achieving these goals would have a tremendous impact on America's environment, economy, and national security.

* Reduce U.S. dependence on oil

America has the technological know-how to dramatically reduce our dependence on oil. By building cars that go farther on a gallon of gas, giving Americans better transportation choices, and using clean, renewable fuels, we can slash our use of oil, improve our environment, safeguard our energy security and, in many cases, save money.

Among the steps we can take are increasing fuel economy standards for cars and trucks, setting goals for plant-based fuels like ethanol and biodiesel, and investing in expanded and improved public transit services. Using these and other tools we can cut America's oil consumption by more than 7 million barrels a day - about one-third of America's current oil use.

* Harness clean, renewable, homegrown energy sources

America has virtually limitless potential to take advantage of renewable energy to power our economy. The Great Plains has been called the "Saudi Arabia of wind" for its vast, high quality wind resource. Similarly, solar photovoltaic panels placed on just 7 percent of the area currently covered by cities and residences could generate all of America's electricity.

By tapping our renewable energy potential, America can dramatically scale back its use of fossil fuels. According to our recent analysis, replacing nearly 25 percet of our energy with renewable sources by 2025 would allow us to save more than half of the natural gas per year in 2025 than is currently used in American homes, and 40 percent of all the coal America used in 2005.

* Save Energy

America has vast "strategic reserves" of energy efficiency. Virtually every part of the American economy has the potential to use energy more efficiently-- from the appliances in our kitchens, to the windows in our office buildings, and the motors in our factories.

Cutting our use of energy by 10 percent would require reducing the amount of energy we are projected to use in 2025 by 27 percent. Recent studies suggest that we could cut our use of electricity and natural gas by more than 20 percent using energy efficiency technologies that pay back their costs over time. We could get the rest of the way to our goal by investing in tomorrow's technologies such as "zero-energy" homes that virtually eliminate the need for fossil fuels and "green" commercial buildings that slice demand for energy by 25 to 40 percent or more.

* Invest in a New Energy Future

By committing $30 billion over the next 10 years to the New Energy for America Initiative, we could triple research and development funding for the energy-saving and renewable technologies we need to achieve these goals.

Spending $3 billion per year on federal clean energy research and development over the next decade would help us develop the next wave of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Projects could include developing the next wave of improvements in vehicle technology, investigating ways to store the energy created by wind and solar power, and finding the best ways to effectively use biofuels.

You can help by signing our "New Energy Future" petition urging candidates to support strong, specific clean energy goals. Then forward this email to your friends and family and ask them to do the same.

duh!!

Gore said he was worried that adaptation to climate change could serve as an excuse for not reducing the global warming pollution and solving the climate crisis.

"We have to solve it (global warming) and there are some people who urge adaptation instead of prevention, and that formulation must be rejected."

Ok! Do you know how much difference we could make in GreenHouse Gas emmissions if we ALL just did one little thing like use Dipetane with Cleanburn Technology?

Maybe 60% of each our emmissions from driving every day isn't much especially with newer vehicles, but 60% of the total from everyone ads up!

New bill Introduced by Senetor Jeffords of Vermont. Will It Help Global Warming?

U.S. PIRG

New Jeffords Bill Rises to the Challenge on Global Warming

Statement of Emily Figdor, Clean Air Energy Advocate

Today
marks a turning point in fight against global warming. We commend
Senator Jeffords for introducing the Global Warming Pollution Reduction
Act, the long-term solution to global warming. This bill comes not a
moment too soon to address one of the most profound issues of our time.

We
are truly grateful to Senator Jeffords for his dogged advocacy for the
environment and, in particular, for introducing this bill. No senator
has done more to protect the environment in this Congress than Senator
Jeffords, and this bill now sets the stage for the future.

Climate
scientists warn that the world faces dire consequences unless we
immediately and significantly reduce emissions of the pollutants that
cause global warming.

The
Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act rises to the challenge by
reducing U.S. emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 (a 15% reduction from
today’s levels) and to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. To achieve these
emission reductions, the bill calls for a greater reliance on clean,
renewable energy and improved energy efficiency.

By
investing now in energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy, the
U.S. can cut its emissions while reducing our dependence on scarce
fossil fuels and, in many cases, creating jobs and saving money. The
result would be a cleaner, more sustainable foundation on which to
build America’s economy for the 21st century.

In
addition to Senator Jeffords, we applaud the other cosponsors of the
bill, including Barbara Boxer (CA), Frank Lautenberg (NJ), Edward
Kennedy (MA), Jack Reed (RI), Daniel Akaka (HI), Chris Dodd (CT),
Patrick Leahy (VT), Paul Sarbanes (MD), and Robert Menendez (NJ).

Can anything be done about high fuel costs?

As gas and diesel fuel prices continue to rise and are expected to reach record highs this summer, Wosat Business Consultants and Dipetane.net are currently undertaking a more aggressive public awareness campaign throughout the US and Canada to make people aware of how to save fuel costs and lower toxic emissions.

Unlike many newcomers who claim to reduce fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions, Dipetane has a proven record of accomplishment.
Consumers want to save money at the gas pump, but they also want assurance that products they are using are safe for their cars and work.

If current predictions of $3.50 to $ 4.00 per gallon this summer are correct, a 10%-25% savings could equate to a $.35 to $.87 cents savings per gallon of regular gasoline at the pump.

As a “fuel catalyst,” 100% Hydrocarbon based and not an additive, Dipetane burns clean and enhances fuel economy up to 10-25%.

Dipetane was created in Ireland in 1987 in response to the ever-increasing energy crises, high fuel taxes, and ecological concerns. It was introduced to the United States in 1991.

Proven in over 200 million miles of service, Dipetane improves fuel economy, reduces harmful emissions, extends oil life, and reduces engine wear. Dipetane is approved by the EPA and has never had a claim on the $1 million Lloyds of London insurance policy that has been in effect since 1987.

At the heart of Dipetane's ability to increase fuel economy is its uniquely more efficient and complete combustion of the fuel being consumed. The result is increased energy release and a longer, more powerful expansion in the combustion chamber.

MORE
Savings in the trucking industry are even greater. By purchasing Dipetane in bulk quantity, the cost per gallon of diesel or bio-diesel is much less and the savings much higher.

The trucking industry is at the heart of consumer prices. Many radio and TV stations have run spots expressing this trickle down effect. We are already seeing increases in consumer goods due to higher transportation costs. Stock market drops have been directly related to higher fuel costs.

As imports for the transportation industry Dipetane will benefit the trucking industry in adhering to new EPA regulations set to take effect in 2007 with the implementation of the Kyoto Accord. Dipetane has proven to reduce emissions that are harmful to the environment by as much as 60 percent.

Several School Districts, huge corporate trucking companies, and even International Shipping firms are using Dipetane. All are getting better performance, reduced emissions, and lower maintenance costs. This substantially reduces their bottom line and adds money back into their already strained budgets with the ever-increasing fuel prices.

In a test conducted in 2005, Capistrano Unified School District Cut Fuel Costs and Reduces Emissions with Dipetane
Dipetane was found to improve fuel economy by 13% during a 3-month test period. It is projected that the Transportation Department will save nearly $60,000 in fuel costs/

Coca-Cola Bottlers of Ireland has released their report on using Dipetane and their Performance evaluation shows over a 9-month period of using Dipetane they found a 17% improvement in fuel economy with a tremendous reduction of particulate emissions.

Dipetane has been serving the Military of Ireland transportation system of over 22000 vehicles since 1994 and has logged over 100 million miles of continued savings and performance. They are still using Dipetane today.

Dipetane takes a unique approach. When mixed into gasoline, diesels, and heavier fuel oils, Dipetane actually causes much more of the fuel to be burned. By burning more fuel, more energy is released therefore reducing the amount of fuel required to perform the same amount of work. This results in increased fuel mileage. Reduced maintenance costs and. dollars saved at the fuel pump. It is the best way, the safest way, to save fuel costs available on the market today.

Detailed information about Dipetane and how to purchase it can be found online at http://dipetane.net or by calling 1-877-879-2973.

In the combustion process with untreated fuels, most of the fuel is not burned completely.
Any unburned fuel results in Carbon a deposit which severely hampers performance and wastes fuel necessitating it to be exhausted or “washed out.”

At present this is accomplished very poorly by the use of detergents, or in the case of severe clogging of fuel injectors, through the use of injector cleaners, but this process also has proven ineffective in achieving a more complete utilization of the fuel and reduction of emissions.

Dipetane, however, is a 100% Hydrocarbon product that improves combustion and cleaning without any detergents or other additives. Because, Dipetane only contains approved fuel components; a Dipetane-treated fuel meets all manufacturer and regulatory fuel specifications.

The clean burn combustion process is comprised of changes in heat and pressure. These changes actually buffet the existing carbon deposits and as they lose adhesion, they are gradually eroded away and burned leaving the chamber cleaned. Absent of the deposits, more oxygen is freed up for the combustion process and heat is reduced. Thus, a cleaner burn and more efficiency, increases fuel mileage by better utilization of the fuel.

The removal of Combustion Chamber Deposits (CCD's) makes Dipetane different from many other products. CCD’s decreases engine efficiency. Dipetane has proven results of reduction up to 60-70% or more of these harmful (CCD’S). After the combustion chamber is cleaned up, increased power and more efficient use of fuel reduces the amount of fuel required to perform the same amount of work. The result is improved fuel economy, longer engine life and dollars saved at the pump.

WOSAT Distribution, LLC an International Group has undertaken to set the public awareness of these products availability. Representatives worldwide bring the finest of collaboration together under one roof.

Positive thought for 2006

A friend of mine, Alan Smith Posted this in an Adland Pro Forum. The title link is to his Blog. Give it a look.

Paul J. Meyer says: Plan Every Year with Positive Expectancy!
Posted: 01 Jan 2006 11:37 AM
Plan Every Year with Positive Expectancy!

By Paul J. Meyer

This year can be the “year of your dreams;” the year of great accomplishment: the year you realize and utilize your untapped potential; the year you receive merited recognition; the year you achieve long-sought goals in your spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, financial, and family life.

This year will be exciting and rewarding only if you make it so. How can you determine to make it such a year? The year will hold accomplishment, realization, and achievement only if you expect it to happen: only if you enter and live each day with POSITIVE EXPECTANCY.

POSITIVE EXPECTANCY is the attitude you must adopt and maintain. The greatness of your accomplishments depends upon your understanding and application of the principles of positive expectancy: you must expect things to happen, and your expectations must be positive.

To illustrate the power of positive – and negative – expectancy, Norman Vincent Peale tells the story of a group of people who, at the end of one year, committed to writing their expectations for the coming year. Each person sealed his expectations in an envelope to be opened and read aloud at the end of the following year.

At the end of the year the notes were opened; the expectations of each had been fulfilled. The man who had written “All I can expect is more of the miserable same,” received in the new year exactly what he had expected.

A woman who had listed 10 worthy goals she expected to achieve found that 9 of the 10 goals had been accomplished.

Another man, basing his expectations upon the negative outlook for his Capricorn birth sign, predicted, “I look for difficulties and frustrations.” His negative expectations were realized. A woman in the group, whose birth sign was the same, did not know she should expect difficulties and predicted a satisfying year which had indeed come to pass.

Another man in the group had written, “as none of the men in my family have survived beyond the age of 60, therefore, I expect to die this year.” The man’s death had occurred one month before his sixtieth birthday. Each of us receives exactly what we expect, whether our expectations are positive or negative. We can see from these examples and from the many we have met during our lives that an attitude of positive expectancy is crucial to accomplishment and personal success.

How can we plan with positive expectancy?

First we must VIVIDLY IMAGINE—

We must develop the faculty of seeing with our “minds eye,” of concise and clear imagining. The law of attraction that we “tend to draw to ourselves” cannot be broken, and we must understand and exploit the tendency to become precisely what we imagine ourselves to be. The picture we hold in our minds tends to come to us.

Second, we must ARDENTLY DESIRE—

With the vivid imagination of our goals, our desire becomes more and more directed toward our goals. An ardent desire burning within creates in every new day an opportunity to earn and justify our rewards; to develop the consciousness and habits of success; to expect dividends commensurate with our investment; to seek a challenge to climb to greater heights. We accept enthusiastically the challenge to accomplish our dreams.

Third, we must SINCERELY BELIEVE—

The fruition of our goals, however vividly imagined and ardently desired, depends also upon a sincere belief in our ability and worthiness to attain our goals. Speaking of the power of such beliefs, Benjamin Disraeli said, “Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creature of men. We must understand that God has given us the power to perceive, picture, believe, struggle for, and attain good things.” William James affirmed the same truth when he said, “Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the only thing that insures the successful outcome of our venture.”

Fourth, we must ENTHUSIASTICALLY ACT—

“Enthusiasm” and “Action” are complementary and effective partners in bringing imagination, desire, and belief into reality. We must plan the action that will see our goals accomplished, making use of appropriate short-range goals. We must plan for obstacles we expect to meet and meet them as opportunities for creativity and as challenges to our desire and belief.

An important part of the power to act enthusiastically comes from the spirit of love and sharing with which we view our fellow man. The positive state of mind breeds acceptance of ourselves and of others. In such an atmosphere of acceptance and selflessness, we soon find that the more we give, the more we are capable of giving, and the more we give, the more we receive in return. The unfailing cycle of giving and receiving reinforces our commitment to positive expectancy.

Does living with positive expectancy mean that life will be easy, free from disappointment, frustration, and difficulties? Fortunately not! The “negatives” of daily life are like obstacles to our goals: they challenge and strengthen our abilities, resolve, and understanding.

One who lives with positive expectancy knows how to turn problems into procedures, how to recognize responsibility as opportunity, and how, in adversity, to see equivalent benefit. With positive expectancy pervading our thoughts, we seek growth and welcome change.

If you and I want to live with positive expectancy, we must vividly imagine great accomplishments. We must ardently desire that this year be the best year of our lives. We must sincerely believe in our abilities and in the goodness of man and of God. We must enthusiastically act upon our own plans and seize every opportunity to achieve.

I challenge you to plan and live this year with your thoughts and dreams filled with POSITIVE EXPECTANCY.

“The person who expects great things,
makes noble plans and daily pursues
them cannot help but succeed.”

With these thoughts, I leave you, this first day of Jan. 2006
Have a GREAT Year!
